Probably made a couple of those goals too easy for them, but with the form that the Pars are on I didn't expect any other result. Hopefully the team will bounce back and give Hearts a game tonight.

Think we need to tighten up down the flanks tonight, a number of times we ended up with one defender against two forwards & they were able to open us up, it will take a while for new players to know each others games but think against Hearts we will need midfielders to defend as well as keep & use the ball. Hopefully keep it tight for longer tonight & give them a game of it.

Well we surely gave them a game of it that's for sure. What a great all round team performance with every single player contributing to a magnificent result. Same again against Elgin City on Saturday and we could qualify for the next round. Play like that in the league and we will win most games. Well done the Toon.

Tremendous result! And the new strip is very nice.

Everyone seemed to work hard tonight and the defence coped well, I actually thought Scott Ross was a standout (and I am not his biggest fan). What a turn around (Saturday excluded) from 2 months ago.

Brilliant performance all round with every single player playing their part. Played as a team which was so lacking last season.

Just enjoy another victory over a premier league side.

Very good result last night. (Said through gritted teeth. Popeye will know why)

A great morale booster for the team and fans alike. What was the turn out like?

I really appreciated Jim's comments after the game. It felt for a while last year that the fans were being forgotten about and that it might have been a mistake to keep Jim on. It was nice to see him acknowledge that in a way and hopefully he keeps proving me wrong

Another good performance at Elgin and unlucky not to qualify after 3 wins out of 4 games. Superb first goal for Peterhead from Paul Cairney and only bettered by an absolute beauty from Jamie Stevenson. Robertson going off injured at halftime was the only cloud during an otherwise flawless display and he was ably replaced by Scott Ross who is playing much better so far this season. The Betfred Cup has been a good workout for the real stuff starting with a hard game at Annan next Saturday. Keep up this level of performance and it will be a good season ahead.

Jamie Stevenson has been like a different player this season with an energy and drive about him that was missing last season.Willie Gibson must be a nightmare for other teams to play against with his clever play, tackling back and superb crossing ability.Early days yet but I see we are as low as 6/5 with some bookies to win the league, probably about the same as Ian Cathro to lose his job.

I was chatting to Jordon Brown after the Elgin game about losing out narrowly on the next stage and I said it wouldn't matter, the winner of our group will get Rangers at Ibrox. Prophetic or predictable?

The team showed up well in the group matches, even what appeared a heavy defeat at East End Park showed some character after being 2 down in 8 mins the guy kept going & found there feet in the match although they were unlikely to get back in to it, the win v Hearts will be remembered for a while & a comfortable win up at Elgin yesterday was hopefully a sign of how things shape up against teams in our own league. We probably should have won by more yesterday but it is good to see players coming together & not afraid to tell each other how to make things better, noticed yesterday at one stage someone passed the ball back to Flemming but it was to his right side & although the ball was cleared the defenders & keeper all spoke to each other to make the point it should be to his left when possible, little things that can make a difference. Also good to hear Jim give a player a bit of stick at one point when although the game was won he knew the player was capable of better. It would be good to get a good start to the league for a change as for some reason we have tended to be slow starters, lets put a marker down early on & fulfil the teams potential.

Indeed a couple of cracking goals there -

Sets us up for the opener at Annan although Rory serves the second of his two game suspension carried over from the end of last season. Still, with goals like these hoping we can show that we can score without him.

Thanks for the link Blueblazer - I enjoyed these goals! It brought back happy memories of the last time I visited Borough Briggs in days of yore when a much fancied Elgin lost in the final of some tournament against the Blues thanks to a late second half brilliant goal by the great Billy Weir when he danced round 3 defenders and fired a low 20 yard shot into the net. Strange how these classic moments will stick in one's mind to one's dying day. Anyhow, let's hope these glory days will return to Balmoor - we have made an excellent start to the season! I find it most encouraging that we managed three goals by players other than Rory.

Some great goals there. As said above it is good to see the other players scoring and players actually taking on the opposition and playing with confidence. Here is hoping we get kicking on with the season.
