Scottish Cup

Post by NewBlue » Sun Sep 24, 2017 5:27 pm

Drawn at home to Colville Park in the 2nd Round on the 14th of October. Should be a fairly winnable game and it will be nice to play someone new.

See that the ref for this game is Lorraine Watson. Has a FIFA badge, was at the Women's Euros this year and has already become the first woman to referee a senior men's game in Scotland.(Edinburgh City v Berwick). Should be a good appointment as she's probably had to work twice as hard as some of the numpties we've seen to get where she is.

Fact is, if we don't win this one comfortably not only will questions be asked but answers will be demanded.

I will be genuinely shocked if we don't win this, but I think you are right that it needs to be a comfortable win for as much the player's confidence as for the fans.

We are basically in the position that Caley were last week, expected to win although not having been at our best of late. The early goal made a big difference to the way Caley played as they were able to relax quite a bit which made it easier for them. Interesting to see Jim mention that we seem to be going through a spell of trying to pass the ball into the net rather than getting shots on goal, we were saying exactly that while watching last weeks game. Agree this is a chance to try & score a few goals & build confidence to take back to our league games.

If we don't win by at least 6 goals and pick up 3 points, questions defiantly need to be asked as we are playing an amateur team!

And one of the questions Ill be asking is....are there are good Indians in Peterhead?

The Laxmi on Rose Street is the only place to go. Nazma used to be excellent but I find it a bit hit or miss now.

Better Raith at home than Dumbarton away. The return of Graeme Smith.

We played it just right, giving them respect and going about things in a professional manner. Credit to Colville as well for setting up with three at the back and playing what I would guess is their normal game instead of everyone back and trying to stifle the game.

Made for a very enjoyable and entertaining match.
