First quarter review

That's us played every team in the division now and two points better off than when we won this league in 2013/14.

We did improve that season and finish on 76 points although we would have won it on 64 points (4x16 points our current total = 64 so would the same each quarter be enough this time?).

We've done well against the lower teams, Berwick the exception, but failing to beat Stirling, Stenny & Montrose has cost us.

Need to keep beating the bottom teams and start taking more points from those teams around us. Stirling are still the biggest danger and we mustn't let them get too far ahead of us.

We have had a good turn around after a sticky start to the season and things are certainly looking a but better now. Still concerned about our defending but hopefully having McKracken back will help with that. Not sure that winning the league is realistic at the moment but if we can keep a fairly consistent run then I hope we can be there or there about.

It's also good to see Rory back amongst the goals as earlier on he had been having rather a lean time of it although still making a valuable contribution. Yes, things are looking up but it would be good to see Stilling lose a game or two!f

In the league away we cant complain we have picked up points even when not at our best, at Balmoor we have dropped too many points to be happy. A few of those games we again contributed to our own downfall, giving up 2pts to Montrose when the game should have been seen out & Berwick with a couple soft goals. Although Stirling looked decent we should not have made the game so simple for them, we cannot rely on other teams to take points off them so really need to at least look to beat them a couple times ourselves & keep winning our own games. At times we have looked good but still need to be more solid at the back & look to our midfield to start to take control of games which has not happened often enough so far. Be interesting to see how things go if Cairney is fit & gets going he could be a game changer on his day. Anyway given the players available in the squad at the start of the season (although quite a few have not really featured through injury etc) am slightly disappointed so far but hope we improve as the season goes on as tends to be our way & would still be looking for the title as the play-offs have not been kind to us in the past.

I had completely forgotten about Cairney, one of a few signings yet to make an impact.
