Blue Toon v Raith Rovers

Post by 243Miles » Fri Nov 17, 2017 10:40 pm

Hi folks new poster here, any thoughts on tomorrow’s match. In this topsy turvy season which team will turn up The Good, The Bad or The Win Ugly? One thing is certain at Balmoor, you don’t know what you will witness next!!!! at least we can’t drop 3 points but the next round would be nice ;)

Welcome 243Miles.

I think many of us have given up trying to predict Peterhead nowadays. If they play as well as they can, we may squeeze a draw out of today's game is my guess but we are facing an in form team and have a shaky defence.

Surprised but happy with a great performance and excellent result. We must have had about 10 corner kicks in the first half but failed to take advantage of any of them. I was worried that we might pay dearly for this but the players kept up a high level performance and were duly rewarded with 3 great goals in the second half. Raith did not cause us much trouble and were well beat by the better side. Bring on the Broch in the next round.

Fine win today, we now need to see that level of performance in the league on a weekly basis, the whole team kept at it right through the 90 minutes which was good to see.

Definitely the Good Toon that turned up today. If it can't be like that every week then 2 out of 3 wouldn't be bad.

Work rate, commitment and concentration all spot on and the icing on the cake with the last goal as Rory scores from a Raith corner after running 3/4 the length of the pitch. Look forward to seeing it again.

More of this kind of play please.

Rory's now got seven goals in two cup matches which puts him out in front of the cup top goal scorers.

This one is better.

Watch where Rory starts from for the last goal and remember this is with 5 minutes to go against a full time team.

Must congratulate all at Balmoor quite some performance. Rovers looked like they might give us a game for about 20 minutes thereafter Peterhead bossed it.

You know if The Blue Toon play well defensively then with the creativity and scoring potential available the can trouble any team. The 3-5-2 allowed Gibson and Ferry to create when possible and probably more importantly act as a shield for their defence. After Ferry went off Gibson almost played as a sweeper in front of the back 3. This foundation allowed Stevenson and McIlduff to press on higher and force The Rovers back into defending over and over. The pressure finally paid and Brown (1) and MacAllister (2) his second a wonderful solo effort supported if he needed by others but It's RORY he's never gonna pass :)

I wondered if there would be a danger off a call off due to the wind but it abaited to something less than 40mph and the rest is history. Many thanks to the folks in the Club Shop for allowing "MY WEE RORY" to shelter with them it allowed me to see most of the second half. The wee man wanted away at 20 min, so cold was he but my big jacket and some chips and banter from stewards and fans kept him there 'till 1/2 time.
So there we are Peterhead Fans an "Enigma wrapped up in a Conundrum that is League 2's Paradox" you can never say it's boring with this Jim McInally team,,,,Bring on DUMBARTON
