Vs Elgin

Post by Jonblue » Tue Jan 02, 2018 5:00 pm

An even better start to the New Year than the end of last by the sound of things -- just hope Balmoor enjoyed a good crowd today? Montrose drawing with Cowdenbeath is a bonus. Yes, it sounds as if the Blues are on fire at present and it's good to see many names on the score sheet! Let's hope we can keep it up and that we start getting decent gates!

Its good to see lately that the team are not wanting to sit on a couple goal lead but keep looking for more which is the right attitude & along with staying focused at the back is very satisfying to watch. Montrose being held was not a surprize but we just need to look after our own games. The weather was not great today but a bit disappointed in todays crowd given there were no other matches in the area think it 700+ but we should be looking for over a 1000 for a game like todays.

Strange game today. The first half was pretty even with Elgin having the wind behind them and Peterhead were probably glad to go in at half time wth a 1-0 lead. The second half was a different story with Elgin collapsing and conceding another 6 goals to register their biggest defeat against us. The Elgin trialist keeper went off injured at 2-0 to be replaced by their regular keeper who let in 5 goals during the short time he was on the park. Another great boost to the goal difference in front of a crowd of near 800 who must surely expect to see the team go on to win this league. Stenny away on Saturday and a chance to finally beat our bogey team.

Not sure if the wind was man of the match for Elgin or us? Either way, it clearly played a huge part in the game.

Is there a feeling that Jim will try and strengthen the team further during the January window or settle for the present squad?

Was mentioned he was looking around but would think probably possibly a centre-half may be about all that's needed, we have pretty good cover in other area,s & previously Jim liked to have a smaller squad to avoid guys not getting a chance of a game.

According to Saturdays EE:
Peterhead manager Jim McInally is setting his sights on other transfer targets after missing out on defender Tom Lang.

The 20-year-old Stranraer centre-back is to join League Two strugglers Clyde when the transfer window opens on January 1.

Blue Toon boss McInally had hoped to land Lang on a deal until the end of the season after he spent time training with the Buchan outfit before Christmas.

With defender Mikael Ngango Diboko leaving Balmoor when his contract expires next month, McInally had hoped to bring Lang in to provide defensive cover.

But after missing out on the former Dumbarton man, McInally now has his sights set on other targets.

He is keen to sign a defender to give him more strength in depth in that area as Peterhead chase the League Two title in the second half of the season.

McInally has also indicated he would be keen to sign a midfielder and an attacker if the right players become available.

Although he would prefer to sign players on permanent contracts, McInally is open to bringing in players on loan, depending on who becomes available in the window

Elgin City video up on their website taken from the opposite side of the pitch to ours. Doesn't show much Elgin action strangely.
