Irn Bru Cup - English teams now entering

After the unqualified success of this competition bringing in Welsh and Northern Irish teams over the last two seasons, the SPFL have decided to add Sutton United and Boreham Wood into the mix.

Haud me back!

A Tuesday night in Annan or Berwick is a nightmare. Imagine having to go to Boreham Wood in Herts? I think the spfl have had a melt down or it is a deliberate ploy to make sure teams like ours can never get near winning it again. We should just tell them to gtf and pull out or play some of the kids that attend the summer coaching sessions as 'colts'.

Jim was pleased with the Brechin result as it meant there would be no Saturday off in September. This from the Bohemians site.

'We advise supporters not to make arrangements to travel as there is a possibility this game could be moved if Bohs progress in the FAI Cup.'

You couldn't make it up with this farce of a competition.

If anyone has access to Premier Sports ;) and wants a preview of what we're up against then Bohemians game against Shamrock is on tonight.

See Bohemians won their cup game last night (Friday) so it appears our match with them could be moved.

Bohemians have been drawn away to Derry City and the match has to be played week ending Sunday 9th September. Doesn't look like we'll have a game that weekend now and it would be pretty pointless making it a midweek fixture as their travelling support would struggle to get here. Nice one SPFL.

As far as I understand it, Irn bru cup ties were arranged to be played weekend of 8/9 Sept also, this would appear to be something for the Scottish & Irish FA's to sort out. What's the point of inviting teams from other FA's if they can't fulfill the obligations?

More to the point why did they accept the invitation in the first place if they knew the dates clashed. Never mind, next season we'll probably have teams from France and Belgium included and the following season Nigeria and Egypt unless we get rid of that clown Doncaster. What started off as a cup for the lower league teams has now turned into a joke.

Game against Bohemians back to Saturday 8th at 3pm. Although they were scheduled to play Derry City on the Friday night in the cup, their opponents can't fulfil that fixture due to international call ups leaving Bohs free for Balmoor.

Edinburgh City's win against Arbroath last night means that we will have a Saturday off next month as the next round ties are to be played on the 17th November, the same date that we were supposed to be visiting Edinburgh.

Not so good, still think one of the reasons we came up short last year was after midweek trips to Berwick & Annan.

Re Edinburgh fixture on 17th likely postponement, could it not be played on 24th, no league games that weekend, unless something else in place for then
