Berwick for a newbie

Post by snedger » Wed Sep 19, 2018 3:55 pm

Hi
Visiting relatives in Peterhead and will be watching the Berwick game.
What pubs are good Pre match?
Good time/occasion to get a new scarf - shop or ground best for club scarf?
Cheers

Hi Snedger,

Probably best sticking to Balmoor - the social club under the main stand is lively on matchdays and would be a good shout. The club shop is also at the ground to pick up a scarf.

Thanks for the info.
Can't believe I'm going from 32C on Tuesday to 11C at the weekend - it may well be enough to break me.

11 deg at Balmoor would be balmy you are forgetting to take the chill factor of the 30 mph wind into account :o

Made heavy weather of that as we always seem to do against teams that sit in deep and hit us on the break.

All about the points though and good to get more game time for Dunlop, Boyle & Dow.

Also good to see Aidan McIlduff back in the game albeit in a Berwick shirt.

Interesting that Jim saw the same as most of us that we get bogged down in midfield with meaningless passes going sideways & backwards, also seems to be a lack of taking a chance & having a shot when possible. Not able to go next week but be interesting to see if the problem persists as I think one the players most responsible for slowing down our forward momentum will probably not be able to play with it being on a plastic pitch. Its not an easy place to go but hopefully we can add some drive to midfield & pick up a win.

The problem is - and I know it's early days yet, but Edinburgh C look like being another Montrose who, unlike us, never put a foot wrong!

As you say its early days yet, think we have to hope we don't get into the situation like last year where we ended up with games in hand but ended up travelling to Annan & Berwick midweek which I still think one way or another led to us dropping points. Hopefully we can avoid cup replays & postponements. Edinburgh like Montrose have a plastic pitch which worked in Montrose,s favour last season as they were able to keep playing most weeks.

Hey guys
Really enjoyed my visit to Balmoor.
Also liked the inexpensive pint in the social prematch and halftime - cheaper than the pubs I went to - nice!
Not sure if Berwick surprised, they started with a lot of energy and I couldn't really see how Peterhead were going to score.
Saw some betting odds prematch and thought that 6/1 for 1-0 were good odds, but someone said that if Peterhead score 1, then they'll score 4.
Nevermind.
Bought a scarf - really useful as an exiled Brighton fan living in Leicester, at a glance, works for all teams.
Good luck for promotion!
cheers!

Good to hear you enjoyed your visit. A frustrating kind of game for us but it is quite common for some teams to come up & sit in for a draw or as might have happened on Saturday sneak a win. Anyway we managed to get our win so you are welcome back anytime :P
