Messageboard downtime

Post by Nev » Wed Jun 01, 2005 4:56 pm

Sorry for the downtime suffered on the forum over the past few days. This was due to a messy server change which I've only just sorted out. I think everything is now in place though, but if there's any problems let me know.

Cheers,
Dave

Just noticed the search function isn't working. I know why so will try to sort it, but it may take a while.

Thanks for your patience

Yup, that was unavoidable I'm afraid. I would have poated in advance last night, but by the time getting everything back had failed three times, I had matchsticks holding my eyes open

How do we let you know if there are any problems with the message board when it is not working - can you put a contact e-mail address on the main page?

My email address is dave@peterheadfc.org.uk, or you can also use website@peterheadfc.org.uk, which is the address given on the main site.

Nev,
Fits been the probs wee the website, for nearly 2 weeks kept on getting bandwidth error when trying to access website.

Tried going via other website links, tried going in via google search, even had to post my score prediction for the Morton game on greenockmorton.net.
They're looking at me and I'm saying, it's not me, it's not me!!

The main website reached and breached it's bandwidth limit the day after the Hibs game. Unfortunately, this is outwith my control, and can only be resolved when the bandwidth is reset at the end of a calendar month.

I think I'm right in swaying this is the first time this has happened since the messageboard and photo galleries were moved onto a separate server.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

By way of explanation, bandwidth is the amount of data transferred by the server. For instance, if I was to upload a 50kb file, and 10 people were to have viewed that file, the bandwidth used would be 500kb. We're allocated so much bandwidth by our hosts (I think it's 1.5GB/month for the main site at the moment), and once it's used, it's used :(

Thanks Nev,
I have put the link to the forum on my favourites for Emergencies.

As you are a bit of a music buff who had a hit in very late 70's early 80's called Emergency

I may be a music buff, but the 80s most definitely get ignored :P

I'm not quite up to scratch on the 70s either :(

Bonzo I think you are thinking of Emergency by Kool & the Gang. It was released in late 83 early 84. On an album also called Emergency.
Its only funny until someone gets hurt, then its hilarious.

Mike, That may have been a hit, but is not the one i was thinking of.

1978 was the year and what ties in with Emergency, and that will give you the answer :?:

Are we talking punk here bonzo? If so, I think 999 had a song called Emergency. I'm not sure it should be classed as a 'hit' though

LTL!!!!!!!!!!

Being the old punk that i am, 999 is indeed the answer. Aything in the Top 50 is classified as a hit, i was led to believe?????

Lets have a POGO

I think the problem suffered at the end of both August and September may have been due to upgrading my photo editing software to Photoshop, which leaves files at a larger file size than my previous package. I've re-saved them with the previous package, which has reduced the file size and should help. It may not solve the problem, but we'll soon see!
